Pallars Jussà, a journey to the roots!
Pallars Jussà has always had a deep connection with water. In the past, the power of the rivers was harnessed to operate mills and forges, and to transport timber down to the plains on wooden rafts known as raiers — a tradition that is celebrated every year with the “Descent of the Raiers” in La Pobla de Segur.
Later, in the early 20th century, the region saw the construction of dams and hydroelectric power stations that still shape the landscape today.
There’s so much to discover in Pallars Jussà:
Cultural heritage — castles, museums, memory sites, unique buildings and Romanesque churches; archaeological sites, festivals, fairs, traditions and local crafts.
Nature — protected natural areas, wildlife, dinosaur tracks, the Geopark, reservoirs and lakes, Starlight-certified skies, scenic viewpoints, tourist trains and even a cable car.
And of course, local cuisine — featuring regional products, wine tourism, food festivals and traditional recipes.
Welcome to Pallars Jussà!
