The Pyrenees of Lleida are the best natural destination in the entire country, according to the readers of Viajes National Geographic magazine.
The vice president of the Tourism Board of the Provincial Council of Lleida, Juan Antonio Serrano, states that this recognition “consolidates the destination’s leadership as a benchmark for nature and sustainable tourism.”
The Pyrenees of Lleida have been recognized as the best natural destination in the country in the IV edition of the Viajes National Geographic readers’ awards. This distinction, granted by popular vote, highlights the landscape’s appeal, the richness of its natural heritage, and the firm commitment to a sustainable, high-quality tourism model. The publication announced the voting results this Tuesday and emphasizes that the valleys, forests, peaks, and lakes of the Pyrenees of Lleida “form one of the best-preserved natural areas in Europe.” It also states that “it is an ideal setting for outdoor activities all year round.”
The vice president of the Tourism Board of the Provincial Council of Lleida, Juan Antonio Serrano, explained that the recognition “consolidates the Pyrenees’ leadership as a benchmark for nature tourism.” He also noted that “the award is the result of the joint effort of the entire tourism sector, which has successfully committed to sustainability, quality, and authenticity as strategic pillars.” He highlighted that the Pyrenean regions are home to “natural gems such as the Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, the Alt Pirineu and Cadí-Moixeró natural parks, as well as ecotourism experiences like forest bathing, birdwatching, or the deer rut.” Serrano stated that “all these nature-based activities are complemented by a wide cultural and gastronomic offer that enriches visitors’ experience.”
Meanwhile, the director of the Tourism Board, Juli Alegre, said that the award “encourages us to continue working along the same lines, promoting a responsible tourism model that attracts conscious travelers who value our natural spaces, our culture, and our people, because our goal is to make Lleida the best place to live, now and in the future.” Alegre added that “this recognition from readers is especially valuable because it reflects the real experience of visitors and reinforces our promotional strategy.”
